What is the Race To 2MM, anyway?
It took us ten years to award our first million dollars in grants. We’ve set an ambitious goal to award our second million in just three years (by 2017)! But we need your help. Every dollar donated during the #RaceTo2MM campaign will provide support to even more young adult cancer survivors who are struggling every day to keep their car running, pay their rent, and keep the electricity on, all in the face of a crushing load of medical debt related to their cancer diagnosis.
Tell me more about these grants.
Being a young adult in today’s economy is tough enough as it is, right? Now imagine you were out of work for weeks, or even months, while you were receiving treatment for your cancer diagnosis. How would you pay for the stacks of medical bills that are accumulating every week? Would you be able to cover your day-to-day expenses?
In short: Cancer isn’t free.
Enter The SAMFund. We’re proud to be the first and largest organization in the US focused on helping young adults like Candice get their lives -and finances – back on track after a cancer diagnosis. She wrote:
“Prior to my grant from The SAMFund, I was struggling to make payments on some cancer-related medical bills that were about to go into collections. The SAMFund helped me pay those bills, which allowed me to have better focus at work, and a better quality of life. I no longer needed to worry about how I was going to pay those bills without further damaging my credit report. They were even able to help me pay one bill that was in collections, which helped my credit score.”
How can I help?
